Month 1 · Research and structure
Weeks 1–4 · Case 1: Healthcare appointment booking
Learn how products are designed, run real interviews and turn what you hear into a clear problem and structure.
- Week 01
Understand people and products
UX, UI and product roles; human-centred design; the Double Diamond; usability heuristics; problem versus solution.
You submit: Audit a familiar service and write a short problem brief.
- Week 02
Plan and run research
Interview guides, neutral questions, consent and research ethics. Figma basics: frames, layers and text.
You submit: Run your first two user interviews and share your notes.
- Week 03
Make sense of the evidence
Affinity mapping, jobs to be done, journey mapping and opportunity statements.
You submit: A journey map and a ranked list of opportunities, backed by evidence.
- Week 04
Structure the product
Information architecture, navigation, card sorting and complete user flows, including empty, error and success states.
You submit: Case 1 navigation and user flows.
Research gate: your mentor checks that your problem comes from real interviews, not assumptions.
Month 2 · Prototype, test and design the UI
Weeks 5–8 · Case 1 complete + Case 2: E-commerce checkout
Turn flows into working prototypes, test them with real users, then design polished screens.
- Week 05
Wireframes and prototypes
Figma auto layout, reusable structures, clickable prototypes, UX writing and mobile conventions.
You submit: A clickable Case 1 prototype and Case 2 checkout wireframes, including payment failure.
- Week 06
Usability testing
Writing test scenarios, moderating a session, task success, severity ratings and design iteration.
You submit: Test Case 1 with five users and Case 2 with three shoppers; document what changed.
- Week 07
Visual design
Typography, hierarchy, colour, contrast, spacing, grids and responsive layouts.
You submit: Final Case 1 screens for mobile and desktop.
- Week 08
Components and accessibility
Figma components, variants and variables; WCAG 2.2 checks for contrast, focus order, labels and target size.
You submit: A small Case 1 component set and an accessibility check.
Craft gate: a reviewer completes the main task in your prototype and checks consistency and accessibility.
Month 3 · AI, portfolio and job readiness
Weeks 9–12 · Case 3: EdTech AI learning assistant
Use AI with judgement, design an AI feature people can trust, then turn your work into a portfolio and practise for interviews.
- Week 09
Design with AI tools
Prompt structure, checking sources, AI-assisted ideation and copy, AI prototyping in Figma Make or Framer, privacy and bias.
You submit: Compare manual and AI-assisted work, and storyboard the Case 3 assistant.
- Week 10
Design a trustworthy AI feature
How people understand AI, showing sources, uncertain answers, errors, undo and human control.
You submit: A Case 3 prototype with normal, uncertain and failure states, tested with three learners.
- Week 11
Write case studies and build your portfolio
Case study structure, telling the story of your decisions, and publishing a portfolio site.
You submit: Three published case studies in a live portfolio.
- Week 12
Interview readiness and jury
Resume and LinkedIn, portfolio walkthroughs, a mock interview and a final portfolio review by a jury.
You submit: Present your portfolio to the jury and receive your certificate.
Final gate: a live jury reviews your portfolio. Your certificate carries an ID that employers can verify online.
