UI UX Design Course: The Complete Guide (2026)

Syllabus, duration, fees, eligibility, tools, projects, certificates and careers — everything to know before you choose a UI UX design course in India.

By Agile Design School Editorial · Updated 1 October 2026 · 11 min read · Complete guide

Key takeaways

  • A complete UI UX course moves from research to structure to visual craft to testing to portfolio.
  • Plan for about six months at 10–12 hours a week to become job-ready; no design degree or coding needed.
  • Fees in India range widely — always check whether GST, exams and software are included.
  • Your portfolio of real-user case studies matters more to employers than the certificate.

What is a UI UX design course?

A UI UX design course teaches you to design digital products — apps, websites and software — that people can understand and use. UX (user experience) is the thinking: researching users, structuring information and designing flows that solve a real problem. UI (user interface) is the craft: typography, colour, layout, components and the visual detail of every screen. A good course teaches both, because employers hire designers who can explain why a screen looks the way it does.

By the end of a complete course you should be able to run user interviews, turn findings into a clear problem, design and prototype a flow in Figma, test it with real users, fix what fails, and present the result as a portfolio case study. New to the field? Start with our plain-English guide, What is UX design?

Who can join — eligibility

You do not need a design degree, drawing skills or coding to start. UI UX courses below PG level are open to:

  • Students and freshers from any stream — engineering, commerce, arts, science or design. See UI UX design course for beginners.
  • Working professionals switching careers — developers, testers, analysts, marketers and graphic designers usually take a weekend or weekday-evening batch.
  • Designers levelling up — with a year or more of experience, specialist and PG programmes take you deeper.

What you do need: a laptop that runs Figma smoothly, a stable internet connection, about 10–12 hours a week, and the willingness to talk to real users.

UI UX design course syllabus, month by month

A complete career course should move from research to structure to visual craft to testing to portfolio — in that order. As a worked example, here is the 26-week syllabus of our Professional Certificate in UX/UI Design:

Tools you will learn

Learn a workflow, not a list of logos. The tools most UI UX teams use in 2026:

  • Figma — design, components, variables and prototyping (the core tool)
  • FigJam or Miro — research synthesis, journey maps and workshops
  • Forms, spreadsheets and a research repository — surveys, notes and evidence
  • Maze or moderated sessions — usability testing
  • Figma Make, Framer or guided AI-assisted code — working prototypes
  • Dev Mode or annotated specs — developer handoff
  • An AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini) — used with verification, never as a substitute for real users

Most coursework runs on free tiers; a few features (paid AI credits, Dev Mode) can need paid plans, so ask any institute what access is included.

Projects and portfolio

Your portfolio — not your certificate — gets you interviews. A strong UI UX course should leave you with 3–5 case studies built on real user research, showing the problem, the evidence, the decisions, the testing and what changed. Practice projects with imaginary users collapse under the first interview question.

In our Professional Certificate you complete five industry case studies — healthcare, e-commerce, fintech, edtech and enterprise SaaS — and defend them before a live jury. Read 7 UX portfolio mistakes that get you rejected and how to build a portfolio that gets interview calls.

How long does a UI UX design course take?

From zero to job-ready, plan for about six months of structured work at around 10–12 hours a week. Shorter courses (6 weeks to 3 months) add a specific skill or test whether the field suits you; PG programmes run 6 months on weekends for more depth.

UI UX design course fees in India

Fees in India range widely, from free tutorials to multi-lakh programmes. Whatever you compare, check three things: is GST included, are there hidden exam or software costs, and is EMI available. All Agile Design School fees below include 18% GST:

CourseFee (incl. GST)
Weekend workshops (each)₹15,000
AI in UX/UI Design₹35,000
UX Research & Design Thinking Foundations₹45,000
Advanced UI & Design Systems₹55,000
Professional Certificate in UX/UI Design₹85,000
DesignOps Professional Programme₹95,000
Product Design Career Accelerator₹1,20,000
PG programmes₹2,20,000 – ₹2,50,000

EMI is available on every fee, and the Scholarship Entrance Test gives up to 30% off courses above ₹80,000. See every fee, including certification exams, on the full fees page.

Online or offline (classroom)?

Both work — what matters is that sessions are live, with critique of your work every week. Recorded-video courses are cheaper but rarely produce a portfolio that survives interviews.

  • Offline: best if you live nearby and learn better in a room with mentors and peers. Our studio is in Yousufguda, Hyderabad, near Ameerpet — see the UI UX design course in Hyderabad.
  • Live online: the same cohorts, mentors and juries from anywhere — ideal for working professionals or learners outside Hyderabad.

Course certificate vs certification

A course certificate says you completed a course. A certification says you passed an independent exam against a published standard. Employers value certificates that can be verified and that were earned through assessed work — ours are given only after a live portfolio jury and carry an ID anyone can check on our verification page. For exam-based credentials, read the UI/UX design certification guide.

Jobs and placement support

A UI UX course prepares you for roles such as UI/UX Designer, Product Designer, UX Researcher, Interaction Designer and Usability Analyst, in product companies, global capability centres, startups and agencies.

Real placement support looks like this: portfolio reviews throughout the course, resume and LinkedIn preparation, mock interviews with portfolio walkthroughs, and introductions to hiring teams. Be wary of any institute that promises “100% placement” — no honest school can. See how we approach it on our placement page and career services.

Salary after a UI UX design course

Salaries depend far more on portfolio strength than on the course you took. Typical ranges in India in 2026 are about ₹3–6 LPA at entry level, ₹8–14 LPA at mid level and ₹15–30+ LPA for senior designers. See the full breakdown in UX designer salary in India (2026) and the city comparison in Hyderabad vs Bangalore vs Pune.

How to choose the right UI UX design course

Frequently asked questions

Can I learn UI UX design without a design background?
Yes. Most students start with no design background. A good beginner course starts from first principles; what matters is consistent practice and real projects, not prior drawing or design skills.
Is coding required for a UI UX design course?
No. You will learn enough HTML/CSS concepts to work well with developers, and some courses include a guided prototype, but no prior coding is required.
How long does it take to learn UI UX design?
About six months of structured, project-based learning at 10–12 hours a week to become job-ready. Shorter courses of 6 weeks to 3 months teach specific skills.
What is the fee for a UI UX design course in India?
It varies widely. At Agile Design School fees range from ₹35,000 for a short course to ₹85,000 for the 6-month Professional Certificate and ₹2,20,000–₹2,50,000 for PG programmes, all including 18% GST, with EMI available.
What is taught in a UI UX design course syllabus?
User research, information architecture, user flows, wireframing and prototyping, visual design and design systems, accessibility, usability testing, AI-assisted design, developer handoff, and building and defending a portfolio.
Is an online UI UX course as good as offline?
It can be, if the sessions are live with weekly critique of your work. Recorded-video courses rarely build an interview-ready portfolio. Our online and classroom cohorts use the same mentors, critiques and juries.
Which UI UX course is best for freshers?
A 4–6 month career certificate that starts from basics and ends with real-user case studies and a portfolio review. At Agile Design School that is the 6-month Professional Certificate in UX/UI Design.
Can I learn UI UX design for free?
You can learn the basics free from tutorials and our free resources and e-books. Becoming job-ready usually needs structured projects, real users and expert critique, which is what a paid course adds.
